How can I help CrossConnect Bible?
I think you help CrossConnect Bible when you love God, that is why I do this, in hope that the word leads people to love God more. Prayer would be much appreciated also, that this project continues to be centered on Christ and nothing else (many people have tempted me to put ads/charge for it). If you are a Java developer and would like to help, feel free to drop me a line and I really wished that we had a graphics designer so I can stop doing these failed pictures on paint. If you also know of technological people who are related to theological content, then it would be great if they could get in touch with me. I've tried contacting DesiringGod, and also MarsHillChurch, but both of which have ignored my emails =(.I also have a donate button below if you would like to support me financially, I do, do this just in my free time.
CrossConnect Bible freely brings you God's word, it'd be much appreciated if you could help continue this ministry.
Why do you want access to our storage, and the ID of the people we call? Do you sell this information? Why do you need full internet access to view what sites we visit?
No we do not sell or in fact we do not even collect the information. Internet access is required to request the data from the server. You can find more information here www.esvapi.org . No caller id information is read at all, but unfortunately in android to detect an incoming call, so that the audio can be paused, it uses the same permissions unfortunately. Storage is used to store the audios which are downloaded for the app.
How do you pause, start and stop audio?
Please refer to the Listen section on the help page
Will this app ever be released in the NIV/NLT/Some other copyrighted pay version?
Unfortunately I do not get any funding and cannot pay licensing fees to develop apps for them. I'm not sure how the other apps do it, but I intend to follow the law and stay on the safe side. ESV is very generous and explicitly has created an API for us developers to use so that God's word can be spread. DesiringGod.org is also extremely generous allowing us to use their resources. So unless someone drops me a license I don't see how I will be able to do this. Or perhaps I'm wrong about this and you're a lawyer, please let me know.
Will this app ever be released in KJV/ASV/Some other free version?
I have looked into KJV and it does look possible (for the audio side of it as well), however I havn't had the time to do it as yet, but it is definitely a potential candidate for future releases. If you are a Java developer and am willing to help please drop me an email.
How do I copy and paste? What about a specific verse?
At the moment, simply press menu, share. This will copy all the current text to your clipboard. Then go into a textbox and long press until the context menu appears, then press paste. To copy a specific verse press the search button and type in the actual reference e.g. John3:16-17. Then repeat the above steps.
How do I read the text offline?
Unfortunately under the current ESV terms and conditions this is not possible. If you are super rich or the owner of ESV then feel free to buy me a license and I'd be more than happy to make the text available offline for people.
